Barbados is to the east of the other islands in the Eastern Caribbean and this means that the island is blessed with some of the best waves in the entire Caribbean. There is something for everyone, like small, mellow waves for beginners to large, challenging waves for expert surfers. There are several surf schools to choose from so you have no excuse.
The tradewinds also provide superb kitesurfing conditions on the south coast. Coupled with great waves Barbados is a wave rider's dream.
Stand up paddling has recently become extremely popular and it can be enjoyed in calm water or in waves. Carlisle Bay is an excellent place to learn as the water is calm. Compared to surfing and kitesurfing this sport is much easier to learn and can be enjoyed by anyone.
